Marching Band/Color Guard

MARCHING BAND is voluntary in the Fall semester and supports the A. C. Reynolds Rocket football team throughout the football season. All students must be enrolled in either Concert Band or Symphonic Winds band class to participate in Marching Band. The band’s Drum Line section requires an audition and provides the percussion student one of the most fun times to DRUM!

The full ACR Marching Band practices after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the early part of football season, with an extra practice for the Drum Line each Wednesday. While the schedule during August and September appears demanding, we go to a “relaxed” schedule around the early part of October reducing after school practice to once a week until the end of football season.

COLOR GUARD is voluntary and incredibly fun because we base our approach on Interpretive Dance routines. Students need not be enrolled in any band class to audition for participation. This group practices with the full Marching Band after school on Tuesdays, and Thursdays with an extra separate practice each Wednesday.

BAND CAMP is REQUIRED for everyone participating in Marching Band and Color Guard. Band Camp is the time when participants learn marching methods, maneuvering, dance routines and music for the upcoming football season. Together the Marching Band and Color Guard perform for all home football games, for most away games and participate in a couple of Marching Competitions each year.

Since 1990 the A. C. Reynolds Marching Band has earned “Superior Ratings” and “Best in Class” awards at numerous Marching Festivals. The awards commonly expected of the Marching Band include Best Horn Line, Best Drum Line, Highest Musical Score, Best Drum Major and Best Color Guard.
