Overview
A. C. Reynolds beginning and advanced Chorus Programs,under the direction of Phillip Haynie, require an audition, permission of the Chorus Instructor or for entering 9th graders, written recommendation by their middle school choral director.

 

 Freshman Men's or Women's Chorus: These courses provide beginning vocal instruction focusing on individual vocal techniques and learning to read music. In Men's Chorus special emphasis is placed on the changing voice and vocal production in the teenage male voice. In Women's Chorus special emphasis is placed on the changing voice and singing in two and three part harmony. Two evening performances are required of these choruses during after school hours and attendance is mandatory.

 

Mixed Chorus: An intermediate level chorus with emphasis on performance, music reading, and vocal technique in Grade IV and V choral literature. Two evening performances per semester are required during after school hours and attendance is mandatory. Students are encouraged to enroll for both Fall and Spring semesters. Students in this ensemble are required to purchase concert attire.

 

 Advanced level Chorus offerings include:

 

Chamber Choir: A chorus offering for 12th graders who are completing a Career Pathway in Fine Arts. The student must have completed at least three semesters of high school chorus because the emphasis of this choir is on music,reading, vocal production, technique development and performance. One evening performance is required of these choruses during after school hours and attendance is mandatory.

 

Chorale: This chorus is a year round honors class whose members are chosen by audition. When notified of acceptance, the student must enroll for both semesters of the school year. This group performs publically throughout the year. There are numerous after school obligations and attendance at all functions is mandatory.Additionally the student is required to purchase performance attire.

 

Advanced Honors Chorale: This advanced chorus is a year round honors class whose members are chosen by audition. When notified of acceptance, the student must enroll for both semesters of the school year and members must participate in auditions and clinics for the All-County Chorus and The North Carolina Honors Chorus. There are numerous after school obligations for many other public performances throughout the year and attendance at all functions is mandatory. Additionally the student is required to purchase performance attire.
