Mission Statement for A. C. Reynolds High School Career Technical Education(CTE) -- Career and College Ready
The
mission of Career and Technical Education (CTE) is to empower students
to be successful citizens, workers, and leaders in a global economy.
CTE programs are designed to contribute to the broad educational
achievement of students, including basic skills, as well as their
ability to work independently and as part of a team, think creatively
and solve problems, and utilize technology in the thinking and
problem-solving process.
Career and Technical
Education fulfills an increasingly significant role in school reform
efforts. Students who concentrate in a CTE area, earning at least four
related technical credits with one of those credits coming from an
advanced level course and meeting other criteria are better prepared for
the further education and advanced training required to be successful
in 21st century careers. A. C. Reynolds High School Career and
Technical Education teachers partner with business and industry and with
community colleges and other post-secondary institutions to ensure
Career and Technical Education serves the needs of individual students.
The
Career and Technical Education faculty at Reynolds align their
instruction with "Career Clusters." Career Clusters are broad groupings
of occupations/career specialties, organized by common knowledge and
skills required for career success. These Career Clusters are used as
an organizing tool for curriculum design, school counselors, and a
framework for seamless transition to career and college.
The
ACR High School CTE Department staff has over 300 years of experience
in education and industry, as well as numerous industry certifications
and credentials. Our instructors are able to relate instruction to
actual industry experience in health care, travel, hospitality, tourism,
marketing, management, child care, automotive, and construction. Each
staff member is committed to giving individual students all the skills
necessary to succeed not only at AC Reynolds, but in the next stages of
their lives, whether it be furthering their education or entering the
workforce.
In compliance with Federal Law, Buncombe County Schools administers all education programs including its Career and Technical Education Programs, employment, activities and admissions without discrimination against any person on the basis of gender, race, color, religion, national origin, age or disability.
