Principal Weekly Update
Posted on 10/14/2018

Good afternoon, this is Doris Sellers, Principal of AC Reynolds High School.

I would like to take a few moments to tell you about upcoming events at AC Reynolds High School.

I hope you and your family have an opportunity to enjoy this long weekend as school is closed on Monday for a teacher workday for professional development for our faculty.

On Tuesday, the district Advisory Council will meet for the annual meeting at North Buncombe High School at 6:00pm.  Also, on Tuesday, the financial aid professional will be on our campus in the evening by appointment only for our senior families requesting assistance with the FAFSA and other financial aid planning.

It is Homecoming 2018 at AC Reynolds High School.  Show your RPI by dressing up each day for Spirit Week and coming out to one of our school events.  On Monday, soccer will be hosting Asheville High at home in a big conference game.  With the impact of the weather, the conference Volleyball tournament will now begin on Monday with us hosting Enka at 6:30pm and a win would result in us playing at West Henderson High School on Tuesday at 6:30pm in the semi-finals.  The final championship game is at West Henderson High School on Thursday at 6:30pm.  Cross Country will participate in a meet at North Buncombe High School on Wednesday.   Tennis regionals will begin on Friday at St Stephens High School in Hickory.  Thursday our JV Football travels to North Buncombe and on Friday we have our Homecoming Pep Rally and the crowning of Homecoming King, our televised game hosting N. Buncombe High School with a 7:30pm kickoff, and the crowning of our Homecoming Queen at halftime with our JROTC and Band presenting before and after the game.   Our week will end with our Marching Band traveling to Newton Conover for competition.  This should be a great week in Rocket Country.

I would like to thank our PTSO for fully funding all teacher classroom grant requests.  I encourage you to still join our PTSO.  Please see their link to give on our school website or on the PTSO FaceBook page.  Any donation amount is 100% given back to the academic support of our school.

Our annual Eblen Pumpkin Fundraiser is underway as the Rockets Show their Pride to the community.  There will be an exciting Sumo Wrestling Smackdown by the winning faculty duo with all proceeds benefiting Eblen Charities.

As you plan ahead, we have several fine arts events to place on your calendar.  The Fall Band Concert is on Tuesday, October 23; Fall Choral Concert is on Thursday, October 25; and the Fall production of Mary Shelley’s classic “Frankenstein” will be presented by the Theater Department on Saturday, October 27 and Monday and Tuesday, October 29 & 30.  Show time is at 7:00pm.  Student tickets are $5, adult tickets $10.  The box office will open 1 hour prior to the show.

As always, I appreciate your support of AC Reynolds High School, where we are committed to the success of all students.

Thank you and have a nice evening.
