Extracurricular Policy

The staff at A.C. Reynolds High School believes that good discipline is essential to student success. In order for teachers to teach and students to learn, an atmosphere conducive to learning must be consistently maintained. Each student has a right to be free from the distractions caused by inappropriate behavior of others. The teacher is the recognized authority in the classroom.


  • Participation in extracurricular activities is a privilege, not a right.
  • Students attending a school-sponsored event are to be held accountable    according to the discipline code of A.C. Reynolds High School.
  • Suspensions totaling five days from school for disciplinary reasons will result in forfeiture of the right to participate in any school-sponsored extracurricular activity for the remainder of the school year.
  • Any student who accumulates five days of out of school suspension during a school year will be ineligible to attend extracurricular activities for the rest of the school year. Examples of extracurricular activities include (but are not limited to): student government, field trips, attendance at clubs meetings, dances, athletic events, concerts, plays and any after school activity.


Club sponsors, coaches and ticket sellers will be notified of students who are ineligible. Students attending an extracurricular event while ineligible will be suspended an additional three days and will not be allowed to appeal.

Students may appeal the length of their extracurricular ineligibility. A written appeal must be submitted within 10 days of the return from the fifth day of suspension. Written appeals must be given to the grade level administrator and will be reviewed by a committee of teachers within 10 school days. The student remains ineligible during the appeals process.
