NC Math 2 builds upon multiple concepts learned and reinforced in Math 1.  Students will add to their knowledge base of linear functions initially to study how quadratic functions behave.  Math 2A thorough comparison of linear and quadratic function behavior will serve as the basis for introducing polynomial, rational, radical, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions.  Modeling real-world data with all of these functions will help students understand how different function types model certain patterns specifically, including the exponential functions studied in Math 1.   Systems of equations and inequalities with these various function types will help students grasp the idea of real-world limitations.  Coordinate-plane transformations of major geometric shapes will lead to an in-depth study of triangle properties, which sets the stage for an introduction to trigonometric ratios and their associated functions.  Finally, students will extend discuss probability and extend to more rigorous considerations of conditional probability.


Tutorials and Reporting

Students may see me in the mornings (between 7:15am and 7:50am) and afternoons (from 3:20 pm until 4:00 pm on Tuesdays and Wednesdays).   • Outcome 4: I can interpret and solve problems involving inverse variation functions

Module C - Inequalities and Systems
  • Outcome 6: I can solve problems that involve inequalities in one variable
  • Outcome 7: I can solve systems of nonlinear equations and justify the solution
Module D - Congruence and Transformations
  • Outcome 8: I can use and apply geometric theorems to prove properties of lines and angles
  • Outcome 9: I can use properties of rigid motions to reason with congruent figures
  • Outcome 10: I can prove theorems about triangles and use them to solve problems
Module E - Similarity and Trigonometry
  • Outcome 11: I can reason and solve problems involving similar figures
  • Outcome 12: I can reason and solve problems involving right triangles

  • Outcome 13: I can determine the probability of events
