Ulmer, Ken (CTE-Marketing)

WELCOME TO OUR CLASS!

Ulmer Family - Cloudy at Craggy

The classes: For the 2021 Spring semester, I'm teaching Hospitality & Tourism Marketing (first period) and Sports & Entertainment Marketing (second and fourth periods). Find out more about the classes, and a little about me, including my terrible, off-key singing, in the video below. (Having trouble viewing? You can also see the video from this link.)

The schedule: All students should have received 3 emails from with reminders about joining our Google Classroom. If you're having trouble subscribing, kenneth.ulmer@bcsemail.org and I'll help. Each morning, that's where I will post the Zoom meeting link for the day. Here is the schedule of Zooms for the days you are not in class:
remote learning schedule
Wednesdays will remain asynchronous days. There will not be Zoom classes on those days, but there will be an assignment posted Wednesday morning for you to complete independently. I will be available for one-on-one Zooms and study halls by appointment. My office hours are weekdays from 11:30am  to 12:30pm, and 3 to 3:30pm. I'm also available other times by appointment.

A little about me: I've worked in the TV/Radio/Marketing industry for 30 years, both on-the-air and behind the scenes, developing event and promotional campaigns. One of my favorite projects was
Sing With Foreigner, a contest that gave local high school students a chance to compete for a spot on stage with the rock band. Reynolds won, and the school chorus got to back the band during a performance of I Want To Know What Love Is at the Asheville Civic Center. I've also helped coordinate promotions with the Southern Conference Tournament and the Asheville Tourists, and have produced local events including the Mountain Motor Show, Dog Day Afternoon, and the Race to the Taps 5k running series.

My TV experience includes a few years as the WLOS Road Trippin' Guy, creating marketing pieces for tourist attractions, restaurants, and resorts across the Carolinas and Tennessee.

When I'm not in the classroom, my kids and I are probably hiking somewhere or at an animal shelter rescuing a senior bulldog. My daughter is in the middle of her first year at Cane Creek, and my son is a 4th grader at Fairview Elementary. No matter when you're reading this, our critters Ruby and Hooch are probably on the sofa, snoring loudly.

Let's connect! Contact me at kenneth.ulmer@bcsemail.org if you have any questions, if you'd like to schedule a one-on-one Zoom, or for information on Wednesday study halls.
